Microsoft has introduced a redesigned Copilot organized around Home, Code and Autopilot. Home combines Chat, Cowork and Office applications; Code lets non-developers build focused solutions using technology derived from GitHub Copilot; and Autopilot is described as a persistent agent that can continue bounded tasks in the background. Home and Code are scheduled to begin rolling out through the Frontier program in the coming weeks, while Autopilot expands to private preview at the end of September. The company says enterprise permissions, auditing and governance remain part of the experience, and long-running agentic workloads will use consumption-based billing. These are phased previews rather than immediate general availability, so real-world autonomy, recovery controls and operating costs still need to be evaluated.
